This patient above wished to have the dark circles treated in her lower lid. She has mild lower lid fat prolapse, thin eyelid skin along with minimal hyperpigmentation. She underwent hyaluronic acid injection using Restylane. The procedure was performed in the office using topical anesthetic cream for pain control. Lidocaine was also placed within the filler material for added pain control. The whole procedure took 20 minutes and the patient tolerated it with no discomfort and bruising.
This photograph in the upper right was taken 1 month after undergoing hyaluronic acid injection using Restylane to the lower eyelids. She had a successful result in reducing the amount of fat prolapse in her lower eyelids and reduction in the hyperpigmentation as well.

These are snapshot photos of the 3D imaging system that Dr. Zoumalan uses to evaluate his patients before and after cosmetic procedures. The 3D image is processed as a 3D video as well for accurate viewing in all angles and facial profiles. This patient had prolapsed orbital fat resulting in a “dark circles.” (left upper) Restylane was injected along the orbital rim and Juvederm was used to give more volume to the midface (cheek area).Volume augmentation of the tear trough-orbital rim hollows and the midface certainly improved her lower lid appearance. The procedure was done in two settings where a second visit was required for touch-up augmentation.
